Come Wander Along with Me...

I wander...it is simply what I do.  Since I was a young girl, my parent's tried everything to keep me close to home, going to such  measures as to buy me goats.  Though I loved my goats, my heart still  wandered.

Growing up in rural New Jersey, I was surrounded by dense woods and long stretches of farm land to fuel my imagination.   I felt at home in the arms of the forest and spent many days laying upon the fragrant mossy soil staring up through the filter of leaves... watching the light dance.  It is these experiences that I work to remember.

In adulthood, I discovered the joy of capturing those precious moments, through my camera's lens.  Though the many years in between my youth and the present, I have enjoyed many wonderful adventures and am currently wandering in another people's land.  For the past 10 years I have had the pleasure of living in Europe and learning to look at life in a very different way.

Through my images and my wanderings, I hope you will enjoy seeing the world around you... in a new way.

So...I invite you to "Come Wander Along with Me..."

Garden Lust

Ladgartenlust09-50sigsm
Every two years the local nursery here in Ladenburg, HUBEN, has 3 a day garden extravaganza. Incorporating all the local growers, garden designers and artists of all kinds. It is truly a feast for the senses.

Not even foul weather would keep the thousands of people away from enjoying this spectacle of nature’s beauty. Having been myself 2 years ago when I first moved to the village, I was excited to know I would yet again be able to attend.

Bringing along a new friend and fellow photo enthusiast, we wandered the soggy foot path that the locals use to avoid the crowds of visitors. After paying our 3 euro entry fee, my eye was treated to an explosion of orange that seemed to be in the hand of absolutely everyone. This amazing drink made with Prosecco and Italian “champagne” and a citrus aperitif of vibrant orange color. Normally my rule is “SHOOT FIRST, DRINK LATER” and I was fascinated but wanted to stay stead fast to my rule when a woman said to me…”HURRY they are running out, get your drink now”. Well, how could I ignore her recommendation..it would just be rude wouldn’t it?

Drink in hand, juggling my camera and umbrella, we wandered the grassy paths lined with the most amazingly creative garden art. Carried along on the heady scents of Lavender and rose from the Provencal soaps and of course the gardens themselves.
Food stalls were bustling and gourmet products from the Odenwald national forest were being enjoyed in great numbers. I had to have a bit of a nosh after that amazing drink and enjoyed and equally vibrant smoked salmon canape. Delicious!

We left once the rains returned, but I can not stress enough, if you are in this area of Germany 2 years from now do try to attend this amazing event. Though, you don’t need to be here just for the event as the HUBEN nurseries and garden center can be enjoyed everyday. It is the inspiration for many of my photographs and there is nothing better for the soul on a rainy day than to wander their beautiful green houses.
