Come Wander Along with Me...

I wander...it is simply what I do.  Since I was a young girl, my parent's tried everything to keep me close to home, going to such  measures as to buy me goats.  Though I loved my goats, my heart still  wandered.

Growing up in rural New Jersey, I was surrounded by dense woods and long stretches of farm land to fuel my imagination.   I felt at home in the arms of the forest and spent many days laying upon the fragrant mossy soil staring up through the filter of leaves... watching the light dance.  It is these experiences that I work to remember.

In adulthood, I discovered the joy of capturing those precious moments, through my camera's lens.  Though the many years in between my youth and the present, I have enjoyed many wonderful adventures and am currently wandering in another people's land.  For the past 10 years I have had the pleasure of living in Europe and learning to look at life in a very different way.

Through my images and my wanderings, I hope you will enjoy seeing the world around you... in a new way.

So...I invite you to "Come Wander Along with Me..."

Cornfield Fantasy… in the Labyrinth

corn-labyrinth09-20-1000Being flexible when living overseas is so important…or perhaps being flexible is just important in life.  Last weekend we were of two minds about driving to Frankfurt for a huge festival or perhaps doing something local.

I have been waiting for the perfect day or in this case evening,  to visit the local cornfield labyrinth.  Each year the Hegehof farm which is located just outside of my village creates a new theme for their very popular Labyrinth.  This years theme was “Fantasy”.  After you spend giggling hours wandering the hay strewn alleys cut through the tall corn you can stand look out and at the very center of the corn field in the Fantasy castle and slide back to the ground from it’s heights.

On the night we decided to wander in there was a festival of the long night.  Families from all over came to discover the labyrinth, listen to music played by a local teenage band and toast the sunset.  Hay bails, trampolines and various play ground equipment kept the younger visitors busy into the night.

If you are as fascinated as I am by the Labyrinth concept you can read more at these links:

September 1, 2009 - 05:09 herman - The labyrinth that was a god's gift for a photographer like you!

September 1, 2009 - 08:14 Billy Howard - Wonderful! You create fantasy where there is none, so it's no surprise that you share the real one you found.

September 1, 2009 - 08:22 Chip Boeckh - There is a festival here in Florida called the Zellwood Sweet Corn Festival. And I think they have a corn maze. They had to cancel the festival this year because of the economy. We are going to try to go next year.

September 1, 2009 - 10:38 Michael Van der Tol - Thanks for sharing such a magical place - and it looks like you found the "kid" inside yourself too.

September 1, 2009 - 23:58 Phil Vaughn - Good work in capturing the late sunlight! It gives the photos quite an atmosphere of adventure and discovery. Thanks, Laura.
