Come Wander Along with Me...

I wander...it is simply what I do.  Since I was a young girl, my parent's tried everything to keep me close to home, going to such  measures as to buy me goats.  Though I loved my goats, my heart still  wandered.

Growing up in rural New Jersey, I was surrounded by dense woods and long stretches of farm land to fuel my imagination.   I felt at home in the arms of the forest and spent many days laying upon the fragrant mossy soil staring up through the filter of leaves... watching the light dance.  It is these experiences that I work to remember.

In adulthood, I discovered the joy of capturing those precious moments, through my camera's lens.  Though the many years in between my youth and the present, I have enjoyed many wonderful adventures and am currently wandering in another people's land.  For the past 10 years I have had the pleasure of living in Europe and learning to look at life in a very different way.

Through my images and my wanderings, I hope you will enjoy seeing the world around you... in a new way.

So...I invite you to "Come Wander Along with Me..."

Nearer, My God, to Thee…Seriously

what-lies-beneath2sigsmWe traveled up to the Alpspitze mountain in a cable car full of people one Sunday morning…I noticed people signing up at a special table at the bottom and also people carrying baskets which did not contain the normal German hiking things, like wine, coffee or cake. Once we arrived at the top and wandered a ways higher we found out the reason for these things. There at the very top, amidst the clouds and craggy Alpine peaks was a minister preparing for Sunday services. When the horn players arrived and started to play hymns which echoed beautifully I have to admit my eyes welled with tears. I thought to myself, NOW THIS is what God meant for a church. Once the service was over, the entire group of about 30 or 40 people all wandered joyfully down the rocky trail to the bottom of the mountain…their steps light.

September 30, 2009 - 14:34 Phil Vaughn - Your opening photo is simply breathtaking and what an thrilling site for a church service. I wish I could have been there!

October 1, 2009 - 05:43 Michael Van der Tol - This image is absolutely stunning

October 6, 2009 - 05:56 Michael - Hi Laura, like these images really a lot. Just to comment: This was the german thanksgiving, traditionally celebrated with a mountain service. Thats the reason why people brought things to get them blessed.
