Come Wander Along with Me...

I wander...it is simply what I do.  Since I was a young girl, my parent's tried everything to keep me close to home, going to such  measures as to buy me goats.  Though I loved my goats, my heart still  wandered.

Growing up in rural New Jersey, I was surrounded by dense woods and long stretches of farm land to fuel my imagination.   I felt at home in the arms of the forest and spent many days laying upon the fragrant mossy soil staring up through the filter of leaves... watching the light dance.  It is these experiences that I work to remember.

In adulthood, I discovered the joy of capturing those precious moments, through my camera's lens.  Though the many years in between my youth and the present, I have enjoyed many wonderful adventures and am currently wandering in another people's land.  For the past 10 years I have had the pleasure of living in Europe and learning to look at life in a very different way.

Through my images and my wanderings, I hope you will enjoy seeing the world around you... in a new way.

So...I invite you to "Come Wander Along with Me..."

Seasonal Celebration…Ladenburgs Herbstfest

herbstfest-lad09-8sigsmEach Fall here in my adopted home of Ladenburg German, there is a wonderful celebration of locally grown organic foods.   Music fills the air as well as the amazing scent of grilled meat, honey and fresh baked breads.

I celebrated by having my first glass of of the season of new wine, the German’s call it Federweißer or Neuer Wein. A great link to read about this drink is at:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federweisser

Our first experience with this seasonal drink was many years back…we bought some from a local farm and didn’t understand why the cap on the bottle wasn’t screwed on tight….thinking how silly this was and a potential spilling accident in the car, we tightened that cap.  Later on that night, we were awoken by an explosion in the kitchen….this bubbling brew blew the cap right off the bottle in a rush of deep purple liquid….spraying everything in it’s path.  There are many endless such lessons we have learned living in this new culture.

My husband opted for a glass of freshly pressed and unprocessed apple juice…bees and all.  Both were equally delicious.
