Last year at this time I was wandering the amazing blooming flower fields of Holland. This year, unable to attend the fan fare that hails the arrival of these blooming “onions” I am forced to pretend in my local U-pick tulip patch.
OK so it may only be three small rows but they certainly are beautiful, and with the power of the imagination I can almost hear all the bicycles passing me by and smell the heady aroma of the hyacinths blooming in the endless Dutch fields.
Here, in my private village patch, I don’t have to fight the bus loads of tourist vying for the perfect tulip shot. I have the entire patch for an hour, completely to myself. No one will look twice if I wish to lay on my belly in the middle of the patch to take a photo.
45 euro cents a piece….priceless for this little piece of paradise.
